Export and protect the original
Download Export Original and Export GPX from your own Strava activity using the Strava website. Do not delete the activity yet.

Back up first.
Then prune.
Strava may reject a LiftPruned file as a duplicate while the original activity remains. Read this entire sequence before deleting anything.
BEFORE YOU DELETE ANY STRAVA ACTIVITY
Save two local backups
On the original activity page at Strava.com, open the ellipsis menu and download both Export Original and Export GPX. Strava recommends the original-format export as the strongest activity-file backup; LiftPrune uses the timestamped GPX.
Confirm both files exist on your computer before continuing.
Process the GPX
Upload the timestamped GPX to LiftPrune. Review the green riding and dashed lift lines, then download the corrected FIT. Processing and downloading do not change anything in Strava.
Decide whether to replace
Strava may identify the corrected FIT as a duplicate while the original activity exists. Replacing it can require deleting the original activity first.
Understand what deletion loses
Deleting a Strava activity is permanent. Re-uploading a file can restore activity data, but it does not restore the original Strava page or its existing kudos and comments. Other page-specific choices may need to be recreated.
Replace only if comfortable
Only after verifying both backups and downloading the LiftPruned FIT should you delete the original and upload the corrected file. Strava may initially classify the imported file as Alpine Ski. After it uploads successfully, you can change the activity type to Ride.
Recover if needed
If the corrected upload fails, re-upload the saved original-format file. The activity data can be restored, but deleted kudos, comments, and original page history may still be lost.

You do not have to replace the Strava activity
You can process the GPX, inspect LiftPrune’s classification, download the corrected FIT, and provide feedback without deleting or changing anything in Strava.
